We are currently looking for a practical and detail-focused Senior Finance Executive to join our finance team in Ekala. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting, ensuring compliance with financial procedures, and supporting accurate reporting. The Senior Finance Executive plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting timely decision-making within the organization.

Position Summary:

The Senior Finance Executive will be responsible for overseeing and managing financial operations including ledger maintenance, reconciliations, taxation, monthly closings, and statutory reporting. The role requires a balance of technical knowledge, hands-on accounting skills, and an understanding of internal controls.

This is a mid-level role that requires both accuracy and consistency. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, auditors, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure that financial processes are followed correctly and reports are prepared on time.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions in the general ledger.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely billing and payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and intercompany balances.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor budget adherence and assist with variance analysis and cost tracking.
  • Support monthly and year-end closings, ensuring all journal entries and accruals are processed accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations including preparation and timely filing of VAT, NBT, PAYE, EPF/ETF, and income tax returns.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to audit queries.
  • Collaborate with procurement, operations, and HR teams to ensure consistent application of finance policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and ensure secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Suggest and help implement improvements to accounting practices and internal controls.
  • Update financial records in the accounting system and maintain proper documentation for reference and auditing purposes.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
  • Part qualification from a recognized accounting body (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka).
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, statutory requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of tax procedures, payroll processing, and statutory contributions in Sri Lanka.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in Sinhala and English.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Fully or nearly qualified in a professional accounting certification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, CA).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or trading company environment.
  • Practical understanding of inventory and cost accounting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with key departments.
  • Reliable, self-disciplined, and committed to meeting deadlines without compromising quality.

  • Comfortable working under periodic pressure, especially during monthly closings or audits.

Work Conditions:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position located at our Ekala facility.
  • Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work required during month-end and year-end closings.
  • You will work in an office environment, with regular interaction with operations, HR, and procurement departments.
  • Travel is not usually required, though attendance at external audits or regulatory meetings may occasionally be needed.
  • All necessary work tools, software, and secure systems access will be provided.
