Operations Executive – Wattala

Job Description: Operations Executive – Wattala

We are looking for a practical and results-driven Operations Executive to join our team in Wattala. This role involves coordinating daily operational tasks, supporting logistics and administrative functions, and ensuring smooth execution of processes across departments. The Operations Executive will play a hands-on role in handling the day-to-day activities that keep our business running efficiently.

This is a role for someone who doesn’t mind being in the thick of things—someone who is organized, dependable, and ready to take ownership of their tasks. You’ll work across teams and directly with management, helping to maintain order, track progress, and resolve minor issues before they become major problems.

Position Summary:

As an Operations Executive, your main responsibility is to manage the daily operations that support the business. You will assist with inventory coordination, order processing, vendor and supplier follow-ups, and internal reporting. Your ability to manage time, multitask under pressure, and pay attention to the details will be critical.

This position requires someone who can work in a fast-moving environment, communicate clearly, and respond to changes without delay. You will be expected to work independently but also as part of a wider team, coordinating efforts across different departments to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day operations including order processing, dispatch coordination, inventory tracking, and vendor communication.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and reordering.
  • Prepare and maintain records related to operational activities, including delivery schedules, supplier invoices, and stock movement.
  • Liaise with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
  • Assist with procurement tasks such as obtaining quotations, comparing prices, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Update internal databases and reports related to order status, inventory, and vendor performance.
  • Help identify inefficiencies in processes and provide suggestions for operational improvements.
  • Assist with resolving issues related to product shortages, late deliveries, or discrepancies in orders.
  • Work with finance and administration teams to ensure proper documentation and support for audits.
  • Coordinate with sales, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure alignment between order placement and fulfillment.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with all relevant stakeholders to ensure accountability and progress tracking.

Required Qualifications:

  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an operations, logistics, or administrative support role.
  • Familiarity with common operational processes including inventory control, procurement, and order management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to prepare basic reports and manage documentation in an organized manner.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Sinhala and English.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage deadlines under pressure.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Previous experience working in a warehouse, logistics, or supply chain environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management software.
  • A practical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and calmly.
  • A strong sense of accountability and commitment to completing tasks thoroughly.
  • Willingness to work in a hands-on capacity, not limited to desk work.
  • Adaptability in dealing with changing priorities or unexpected challenges.
  • A good understanding of general business workflows and interdepartmental coordination.

Work Conditions:

  • This is a full-time, on-site role based in Wattala.
  • Standard working hours apply, but some flexibility may be required depending on operational needs.
  • The role involves both desk-based work and physical presence in warehouse or logistics areas as needed.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers or related company locations may be required.
  • Comfortable and practical dress code aligned with operational tasks.

What We Expect From You:

  • Reliability and punctuality—showing up ready to work and follow through on commitments.
  • Attention to detail, particularly when preparing reports, reviewing orders, or communicating updates.
  • Ability to work independently, but also contribute to team-based problem-solving.
  • A calm and methodical approach when facing time pressure or unexpected changes.
  • Respect for deadlines, procedures, and company protocols.
  • Willingness to ask questions or seek clarification when uncertain, rather than make assumptions.
  • Integrity in handling records, supplier communications, and internal reporting.

What You Can Expect From Us:

  • A stable working environment with clear expectations and consistent support.
  • Opportunities to grow within the company, especially for those who demonstrate initiative and reliability.
  • On-the-job training and development for tools and processes used in operations.
  • Exposure to a range of business functions and departments, offering valuable experience.
  • A fair and transparent performance evaluation system.
  • A team-based culture where practical ideas and improvements are welcomed.
  • Competitive salary, along with travel or mobile allowances depending on your responsibilities.

Who Should Apply:

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys planning, organizing, and following processes that make business run efficiently.
  • Wants to take responsibility without needing constant supervision.
  • Lives in or near Wattala and prefers a stable, full-time position with long-term potential.
  • Has experience working in logistics, administration, or supply chain support roles.
  • Is comfortable with numbers, spreadsheets, and keeping records updated.
  • Can remain calm under pressure and communicate clearly across teams.

Whether you’re early in your operations career or looking for a position with more structure and responsibility, we welcome applicants who are serious about contributing to the team and learning as they go.

Application Process:

To apply, please send your updated CV along with a short cover letter explaining why you are interested in the role and how your background fits the job. Your application should also include:

  • A summary of your work experience, particularly in logistics or operations
  • Details of your educational qualifications
  • Two professional references
  • Your availability to start and expected salary

Please ensure your application is accurate and complete. Incomplete submissions may not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a phone or in-person interview. You may be asked to complete a simple practical task related to operational planning or coordination as part of the evaluation.
