Position Overview

We are looking for a passionate and strategic Associate Manager, HR to lead our Human Resources Business Partnering (HRBP), Industrial Relations (IR), and Compliance initiatives. In this critical on-site role, you will bridge HR strategy with operational needs, fostering a compliant, high-performance culture aligned with both Sri Lankan labour law and international frameworks such as ILO conventions.

As a key HR leader in our Seeduwa operations, your responsibilities will focus on employee relations, labor law compliance, stakeholder engagement, and maintaining ethical and social standards demanded by global buyers.


Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering (HRBP):

  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to business units, translating organizational goals into actionable people strategies.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Guide line managers on HR policy, employee engagement, and organizational development.

Industrial Relations (IR):

  • Foster strong relationships with employee councils, labor authorities, and union representatives.
  • Manage disciplinary actions, grievance procedures, and collective bargaining processes.
  • Monitor industrial climate and mitigate labor risk through proactive engagement and training.

Regulatory & Social Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with Sri Lankan labor laws, health & safety standards, and buyer code of conduct.
  • Lead the execution and facilitation of audits such as WRAP, SMETA, ISO, and ethical sourcing reviews.
  • Align internal policies with ILO Core Labor Standards on fair labor, child labor, gender equity, and safe working conditions.

Employee Engagement & Welfare:

  • Champion a respectful, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Support initiatives on workplace safety, employee wellbeing, and fair treatment.
  • Implement continuous improvements in HR practices, aligned with sustainability and business needs.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Maintain accurate documentation and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Liaise with external bodies such as the Department of Labour, EFC, and compliance auditors.
  • Align with global HR, compliance, and IT teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Labor Law, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or legal certification is a plus).
  • 5–8 years of experience in HR, with a focus on industrial relations and compliance—preferably in manufacturing or apparel industries.
  • Deep knowledge of local labor laws, ILO conventions, and global audit standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience managing buyer audits and statutory inspections confidently and ethically.
  • Exposure to multicultural and cross-functional teams.
