Role Summary
As a Quality Assurance Officer, you will be instrumental in upholding Cargill’s food safety and quality standards at our Colombo facility. This role involves meticulous monitoring, documentation, and communication across operational teams to ensure compliance with internal protocols and regulatory guidelines. You will also be a key contributor to training, audits, and continuous improvement in our quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections across critical control points, sanitation zones, and control rooms to ensure full compliance with food safety programs.
- Monitor daily material processing procedures and take immediate corrective action when deviations occur.
- Manage and verify documentation related to operational and sanitation controls.
- Administer internal audits and participate in third-party inspections to assess plant-wide adherence to food safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate food safety records, manage deviation reports, and track the effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions.
- Deliver theoretical and hands-on training sessions on quality assurance standards and certification protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks, implement safety improvements, and uphold certifications.
- Handle advanced administrative and technical support tasks with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Sound understanding of food safety concepts, hazard identification, and agency regulations.
- Ability to professionally represent the organization during audits and official inspections.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
- Familiarity with chemical titration procedures and HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) equipment.
- Prior experience in administering or supporting food safety certification programs is advantageous.
